The election of 1860 was considered as one of the most pivotal presidential elections in the history of America. Even though Lincoln had received only 40% of the popular vote, but the sectional divisions in the U.S. allowed him to also win the 17 states and also 4 electoral votes in New Jersey. This was the starting of Civil War as when the results were declared, South Carolina announced that there will be now divided rules between South Carolina and other states that was named as the United States of America and it was announced to be dissolved that created a major beginning of the Civil War.
